Sometimes, that word (remodel) can be harder to say, and even harder to think about than many four-letter words today. You see, for some, remodeling is fun, exciting, and a pure joy. For others, it is a hassle, expensive, and often times painful.

When my wife and I bought our first home, (as with most “first homes”) there was plenty of remodeling that needed to be done. There was a lot of old things that needed to be taken out of the house before any progress could be made (moldy carpet, cheap paneling on the walls etc..) once we got all of the old, dirty, and nasty things out of the house, we could then turn it into what we wanted it to be.

How about us in a spiritual sense? The Bible says in Hebrews 3:6 that we are “God’s house.” You see, just like me and my wife, just like you, when God moves in He wants to make it His home. He wants to make His home into something big, functional, and beautiful. However, before He can truly make it what He desires, He must first get rid of the old. He must get rid of the old, dirty, and nasty things (sin) out of our life, so that we can become an acceptable place for Him to dwell. The question then becomes, “Will you let Him?”

When Meagan and I were going through our house on various projects we would sit down and make a list of everything that needed to be done. We did this for two reasons.

#1. To keep us on track
#2. To remind us that there REALLY WAS an “end” in sight. (Though it rarely felt like it)

I do not pretend to have a comprehensive list even for my own “remodel project” so I do not intend to give you one for your life. However, I hope that the lists below serve as a good starting point.
